Phresh HyperFan V2 – The missing link's

The Phresh HyperFan V2 was another step forward in the evolution of EC fan technology with improvements to the motor, housing, power & control connectivity, now featuring a 9-pole brushless motor offering higher degrees of controllability for the grower using what is becoming the industry standard RJ12 connections and 0-10v protocol for signalling fan speeds. The fan features an active technology allowing controllers to be used with out the need for an external power supply to the controller which works well for singular fan installs per controller/outlet/channel, but we came across issues when a customer needed to operate multiple fans on a TrolMaster Hydro-X controller with the Thermostat TSH-1 device station featuring a single output/channel, the added active feature was causing issues with the signalling when using RJ12 Y splitters resulting in only 1 fan being controlled from the controller – a problem we had to fix!.

Within of a couple of hours we had 2 Phresh HyperFan’s working in sync from 1 controller channel running linked up in series with a simple solution, we had 2 work arounds which should in theory allow any 0-10v fan controller to run the Phresh HyperFan’s in sync.

1)      Requires a degree of mechanical ability and basic understanding how the fan controllability works, the cable that utilises the PIN3 contact on the RJ12 plug requires cutting to disable the active feed to the controller, the cable colour is not important as they can change depending on how the cable manufacturer had them produced so you will need decipher which cable requires cutting.

2)      A somewhat simpler option which only costs a few £’s is to use the G.A.S Y Splitter cables (cable pack 1 or cable pack 3) (the original non active version!!) and 3 Pin to RJ12 conversion (Cable Pack 16) to convert to RJ12 connections.

Depending upon which controller you’re using there may still require a little cable cutting which is straight forward enough.

If you’re using a TrolMaster hydro-X with Thermostat TSH-1 device station or similar controller which requires a bare wired termination the cables utilised on PIN1 (0-10v) & PIN2 (GND-0v) on the Phresh HyperFan are the required signal cables for the POS + & NEG – terminals, any unused cables in the 6 Cores can be cut back and taped up.

G.A.S fan controllers can be connected using the available cable packs.
