Originating from a groundbreaking discovery in 1979 by Russian scientists who isolated the bacterium "pseudomona putida" for degrading hydrocarbons, Biopulcher was founded by Jordi Vila. Inspired by this revolutionary technology, Vila imported it to Spain and embarked on years of rigorous testing and research, eventually establishing Biopulcher as a trusted method for combating hydrocarbon contamination on an industrial scale.
Their journey has been marked by significant milestones and achievements. Biopulcher inherits the wealth of experience from predecessor companies such as Ecoservicio S.A., Qm & Unicom, and Qmtecnic, which laid the foundation for their success since 1990. A track record which includes notable projects such as the Campsa treatment in 1992, interventions in the Aegean Sea disaster in La Coruña, and engagements with Repsol factories.
One of their most notable accomplishments occurred in 2018 when Gran Tarajal Harbor in Fuerteventura faced a crisis following the Emma storm, resulting in the sinking of eight ships. Commissioned by the Government of the Canary Islands, Biopulcher undertook the task of decontaminating the port's waters, successfully restoring it to its former state over an intensive eight-month period.
In addition to their expertise in hydrocarbon contamination, Biopulcher excels in organic sludge treatments for degradation and deodorization. A standout project includes the treatment of 150,000 cubic meters of sludge in the Segura riverbed, garnering recognition with the Segura River Decontamination Project Award in 2016.
