The 45° duct T piece is to be used within certain installations where 2 duct runs of equal diameters (size) are to be joined in to 1 exit point of the same diameter, the issue encountered with a standard ducting T or even a equal degree Y piece connection when used on exhaust ducting runs is the air flow can be back pressured down 1 of the lines due to the fan not being of equal power or different lenghts of ducting resulting in un equel flow and pressures. The 45° angled T piece reduced this potential issue owing to the fact that 1 of the air flows is undisturbed and is travelling straight and the 2nd air flow attaches to this as the 45° duct T's shape will generate a degree of the venturi effect.
