Mountain Air Carbon Filter Range – 4″ to 14″

Mountain Air Carbon Filters provide high-capacity air filtration for indoor growing rooms, propagation areas and other controlled horticultural environments. Premium activated carbon adsorbs airborne odour compounds as extracted air passes through the filter.

The range covers airflow ratings from 310m³/h to 4250m³/h, with connection sizes from 100mm to 350mm. This makes it suitable for everything from compact ventilation systems to large commercial installations.

Mountain Air filter sizes

Dimensions identify the nominal connection diameter and filter-body length. Product appearance and minor measurements may vary between production batches.

Choosing the correct filter

Select a filter with the same connection diameter as the extraction fan and an airflow rating equal to or greater than the fan’s operating airflow. The fan’s quoted free-air rating may fall after ducting, bends, silencers and the filter are installed, so system resistance should also be considered.

An oversized filter can reduce air resistance and increase the contact time between the extracted air and activated carbon. Never connect a fan whose operating airflow exceeds the filter’s maximum rating.

Installation

1. Position the filter inside the room, normally near its highest and warmest point.
2. Support its full weight using appropriately rated straps, chains, brackets or a filter stand.
3. Connect the filter to a compatible extraction fan using correctly sized ducting or a suitable reducer.
4. Secure and seal every connection with duct clips or aluminium foil tape.
5. Extract the filtered air outside the enclosed area where possible.

The filter can normally be installed before the fan so that contaminated air is pulled through the carbon. Always follow the fan manufacturer’s installation requirements and ensure the combined assembly is securely supported.

Care and maintenance

Keep the fabric pre-filter fitted during operation. Inspect it regularly and clean or replace it when dust begins to restrict airflow. Excessive humidity, dust and operation above the rated airflow can shorten the carbon’s effective service life.

Replace the filter when unwanted odours begin passing through despite correct airflow, sealed connections and a clean pre-filter. Carbon-filter life varies with humidity, contaminant concentration, operating time and airflow; it cannot be guaranteed solely by elapsed time.
