The Can-Fan RK is a dependable inline centrifugal extraction fan designed for ventilation systems that require reliable airflow through ducting and carbon filters. Its backward-curved impeller provides stronger pressure handling than a basic axial fan, making it suitable for filtered extraction systems and longer duct runs.

SteelRoots stocks the standard lower-powered Can-Fan RK models in 100, 125, 150 and 200 mm sizes, with maximum airflow ratings from 240 to 820 m³/h. Each model uses a speed-controllable AC motor, allowing the airflow to be adjusted with a correctly rated fan controller.

Select the required duct diameter and airflow from the product options before ordering. Published airflow figures represent maximum free-air performance; installed airflow will be lower when resistance is introduced by a carbon filter, duct bends or long duct runs.

Why Choose a Centrifugal Extraction Fan?

A centrifugal fan is designed to maintain useful airflow when resistance is introduced by carbon filters, silencers, duct bends and longer ventilation routes. This makes the Can-Fan RK better suited to demanding extraction systems than a basic booster or axial duct fan.

Speed Control

The Can-Fan RK can be regulated using a compatible voltage or transformer-based AC fan controller with a sufficient current rating. A household lighting dimmer must not be used to control the fan.

Reducing the speed can help balance airflow and operating sound, but the fan should not be operated below a safe motor speed. Excessively low settings can cause overheating and activate the integrated thermal protection.

Pairing with a Carbon Filter

The fan should be paired with a carbon filter that has the same connection diameter and a compatible airflow rating. The filter’s maximum airflow rating should not be exceeded, while ducting should be kept as short and straight as the installation permits.

Installation Guidance

  1. Select a model matching the required duct diameter and calculated airflow.
  2. Mount the fan securely using suitable brackets or support straps.
  3. Check the airflow-direction indicator before connecting the ducting.
  4. Secure every connection with appropriately sized duct clamps.
  5. Support the carbon filter independently rather than placing its weight on the fan.
  6. Complete the electrical connection according to the supplied instructions.
  7. Test the system for unrestricted airflow, vibration and secure connections.

Electrical work should be completed by a competent person. Do not install the fan where it can be exposed directly to water, and never obstruct the inlet or outlet during operation.
