RAM Activated Carbon Filters for Grow Room Odour Control

The RAM AirTECH LITE Carbon Filter is designed to remove unwanted airborne odours from indoor growing and horticultural environments. Available with 100 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm connection sizes, the range supports extraction airflow rates from 250 m³/h to 900 m³/h.

Each filter contains premium Australian activated carbon that is machine-compacted to create a dense and consistent carbon bed. This construction helps reduce gaps through which untreated air could otherwise pass, supporting effective filtration across the filter’s rated airflow.

Machine-Compacted Australian Activated Carbon

The AirTECH LITE uses activated carbon manufactured from Australian raw material. The carbon is compacted mechanically to maximise density and reduce gaps within the carbon bed.

As extracted air passes through the filter, odour-producing compounds are adsorbed onto the internal surface of the activated carbon. The filter should always be matched with an extraction fan operating within its published airflow rating.

Reinforced Filter Construction

The top and base are manufactured from Zintec-coated steel to reinforce the filter body. An internal vortex cone directs airflow through the carbon bed, while silicone sealing bands help stop carbon dust and fine particles from escaping into the ventilation system.

A removable fabric pre-filter surrounds the main body. This sleeve captures larger airborne particles before they reach the activated carbon and can be removed for routine cleaning.

Choosing the Correct Filter

Select a filter with a connection diameter matching the extraction fan and ducting. The fan’s working airflow should not exceed the filter’s maximum published rating.

Actual airflow can be reduced by duct length, bends, silencers, speed controllers and other ventilation components. When selecting equipment, the resistance created by the complete extraction system should be considered rather than relying only on the fan’s unrestricted airflow figure.

Installation

1. Confirm that the fan, filter and ducting have compatible connection diameters.
2. Mount the filter securely using correctly rated straps or brackets.
3. Connect the filter to the extraction fan using suitable ducting or a quick-release clamp.
4. Seal every connection to prevent untreated air from bypassing the filter.
5. Arrange the system so that air is drawn through the carbon filter before leaving the growing environment.
6. Check the entire extraction system for air leaks after installation.

Pre-Filter Cleaning and Maintenance

Inspect the outer pre-filter regularly. Remove and clean it when dust begins to accumulate, following the care instructions supplied with the product. The sleeve must be completely dry before it is placed back over the carbon filter.

Activated carbon gradually becomes saturated during use. Replace the filter when odour control noticeably declines despite correct installation, clean ducting and an appropriate airflow rate. Service life varies with humidity, temperature, contaminant levels, airflow and operating hours.

Important Information

The RAM AirTECH LITE is a passive activated carbon filter and requires a compatible extraction fan, ducting and connectors. The filter does not include an extraction fan unless purchased as part of a separate ventilation kit.
