Faven R8 120W LED Under-Canopy Grow Light

The Faven R8 is a high-output 120W LED under-canopy grow light designed to supplement overhead LED lighting in indoor horticultural rooms, mixed-light facilities and greenhouses. Its red-weighted spectrum directs light upwards and through the lower canopy, helping growers create more balanced light distribution across the plant structure.

Delivering an efficacy of up to 2.9 µmol/J, the R8 combines efficient LED performance with a slim 1.17-metre housing, integrated driver and diffused optical lens. Its sealed IP66-rated construction provides protection against dust and powerful water jets, making the fixture suitable for demanding horticultural environments when installed and maintained correctly.

The R8 is dimmable and can be connected to compatible 0–10V lighting-control platforms. Multiple fixtures can also be linked together, with the maximum number determined by the supply voltage and electrical installation.

R8 Spectrum and Recommended Applications

The Faven R8 uses a red-weighted spectrum developed to complement rooms already using LED top lights. Faven also recommends the R8 for mixed-light environments and greenhouses.

Facilities using HPS top lighting should compare the R8 with the Faven R6. The R6 uses a broader full-spectrum balance intended to offset the red, orange and yellow output associated with HPS fixtures.

Dimming and Lighting Control

The R8 can be dimmed through compatible Faven controls or suitable 0–10V platforms. Compatible systems identified by Faven include TrolMaster Hydro-X, TrolMaster Hydro-X Pro, GrowFlux, Growlink, Thrive and Argus.

Compatibility should be confirmed before connection because not every grow-light controller uses the same wiring or signal configuration. Faven specifically states that Luxx, Gavita and AC Infinity controllers are not compatible with its R Series control interface.

The Faven Mini Controller can operate up to 100 compatible R6 or R8 fixtures, but it does not replace a mains timer.

Linking Multiple R8 Fixtures

Multiple R8 fixtures can be linked using the correct Faven power and jumper cables. Faven publishes the following maximum quantities per powered chain:

UK installations will normally use an appropriate 230–240V supply. The final number of fixtures, circuit loading, protective devices and cable selection must be confirmed by a competent electrician.

Installation Position

Faven recommends positioning the base of the fixture no lower than the top edge of the growing container or substrate. The optimum height depends on final plant height, canopy depth, spacing and room layout.

• For shorter plants, Faven recommends beginning with the fixture close to the height of the substrate lip.
• Optional adjustable stands provide approximately 203, 254 or 305 mm mounting heights.
• Taller crops and commercial benches may require a higher mounting structure or Unistrut installation.
• Leaves must not rest directly against the fixture or obstruct its light output.

A PAR meter should be used to assess lower-canopy intensity and prevent excessive light exposure. Settings should be introduced gradually and adjusted according to plant response and the contribution from the overhead lighting system.
