CANNA FLUSH for Removing Excess Nutrients from Growing Media

CANNA FLUSH is a specialist horticultural rinsing solution designed to help remove excess nutrients from soil, coco, soilless growing media and open hydroponic systems. It can be used following overfeeding, during the final stage of an annual crop or when preparing inert media such as clay pebbles for reuse.

Unlike flushing with reverse-osmosis or demineralised water alone, CANNA FLUSH is formulated to rinse accumulated nutrients from the growing medium without deliberately sterilising the root zone or eliminating its beneficial microorganisms.

Different application rates are required for soil and soilless mixes, open hydroponic systems and reusable inert substrates. Always select the instructions that match the growing method.

Corrective Flushing: Soil and Soilless Mixes

1. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
2. Dilute 20 mL of CANNA FLUSH in 10 litres of water.
3. Apply the solution until drainage is produced from the growing medium.
4. At the next normal watering, irrigate once with plain tap water until drainage is produced.
5. Resume the normal feeding programme afterwards, provided the plants and substrate are ready.

Corrective Flushing: Open Hydroponic Systems

1. Dilute 40 mL of CANNA FLUSH in 10 litres of water.
2. Apply it during the final irrigation of the day.
3. Irrigate until approximately 10–20% drainage is achieved.
4. Water once with plain tap water until drainage is produced.
5. Resume the normal feeding programme the following day, using the system’s normal drainage target.

These instructions apply to open or drain-to-waste hydroponic systems. They should not be assumed to apply unchanged to every closed recirculating system.

Final-Stage Use

For annual horticultural crops, CANNA advises beginning one to two weeks before the planned end of the crop cycle. Apply CANNA FLUSH once per week at the rate appropriate for the growing medium, following the same application method used for corrective rinsing.

The normal feeding programme continues between CANNA FLUSH applications unless the current product label or CANNA feeding schedule directs otherwise.

Cleaning Clay Pebbles and Other Inert Media

1. Add 40 mL of CANNA FLUSH to 10 litres of tap water.
2. Soak the inert substrate in the diluted solution for 24 hours.
3. Rinse the substrate using an equal volume of tap water.
4. Repeat the process if necessary.

This cleaning method is suitable for reusable inert media such as clay pebbles. Inspect the material before reuse and discard any media that is damaged, contaminated or unsuitable for another crop.

What CANNA FLUSH Is Not

CANNA FLUSH is intended for rinsing excess nutrients from growing media. It is not a replacement for a complete base nutrient, pH adjuster, water steriliser or irrigation-line cleaner. CANNA D-Block is the dedicated CANNA product for helping maintain irrigation pipes and drippers.

Important Information

• Choose the dosage that matches the growing medium and irrigation system.
• Do not apply the undiluted concentrate directly to plants or growing media.
• Do not repeatedly flush without identifying and correcting the cause of excessive nutrient concentration.
• Monitor drainage EC where appropriate to assess the condition of the root zone.
• Store securely in the original container in a dark, frost-free location.
