Backdraught shutters are passive ventilation components intended to resist reverse airflow when a compatible grow room extraction fan is switched off. Positioned correctly in a round duct run, a suitable one-way shutter can help reduce unwanted cold draughts entering the grow room through an inactive extraction outlet.

Choose a nominal duct size

  • 125 mm (5 in)
  • 150 mm (6 in)
  • 200 mm (8 in)
  • 250 mm (10 in)

How a backdraught shutter works

Airflow from the extractor opens the moving shutter leaves; when air pressure falls, the valve is designed to close and reduce backflow. Ensure that the selected shutter suits the orientation and flow direction of the duct run, and inspect moving blades for unobstructed travel before switching on the fan. Shutters do not replace a correctly sized extraction fan, a fire damper or a weatherproof external termination.

What's included?

One backdraught shutter of the selected diameter. Ducting, fan and joining clips are separate. The exact closure mechanism, materials, airflow resistance, retail barcode and packed weight are subject to verification on the SteelRoots stock item.
