Athena IPW Integrated Plant Wash)
  • Detailed Description: Athena IPW (formerly known as Athena IPM) is a broad-spectrum, 100% organic pest and pathogen management formula designed specifically as a foliar leaf wash. Formulated from natural essential oils and organic microbial enzymes, it contains zero artificial pesticides or chemical fungicides. It acts via a mechanical mode of action: on contact, it dissolves the protective outer membranes of soft-bodied insects and descales fungal spores, causing them to dehydrate and die. Because this mechanism is purely mechanical, target pests cannot develop genetic resistance to the formula. It cleans accumulated dust, grease, and pollutants off the leaves, opening up stomata pores to maximize photosynthetic efficiency. It targets powdery mildew, spider mites, two-spotted spider mites, aphids, thrips, and fungus gnats.
  • Exact Dilution Rates:
    • Preventative Maintenance (Pest-Free): 60 to 90 mL per gallon (or 15 to 24 mL per litre). Apply 2 times per week.
    • Curative Treatment (Active / Light Pest Pressure): 90 to 120 mL per gallon (or 24 to 32 mL per litre). Apply 3 times per week.
    • Severe Outbreak / Heavy Infestation: 120 mL per gallon (or 32 mL per litre). Execute an aggressive 9-day knock-down schedule: spray for 2 consecutive days, skip 1 day, and repeat the cycle.
    • Root Drench Application: 4 to 12 mL per gallon (or 1 to 3 mL per litre) to target root-bound pests like fungus gnat larvae.
  • Best Use: Safe to apply from the early seedling/clone phase, throughout the entire vegetative stage, and up until the last day of Week 3 of the flowering cycle. Do not spray later in bloom to prevent altering the flavor or aroma of the harvest

Frequently Asked Questions

Athena IPW stands for Integrated Plant Wash. It is a concentrated foliar plant wash designed to help manage common pests and plant pathogens while cleaning leaf surfaces as part of a regular plant-care programme.

Athena IPW is the name used for the product currently sold by Steel Roots and is described as formerly known as Athena IPM. You may therefore still see Athena IPM referenced online, particularly on Athena's US website and in older product information.

Athena IPW is designed to target a range of common soft-bodied pests, including spider mites, two-spotted spider mites, aphids, thrips and fungus gnats. Thorough application is important to ensure the solution reaches the areas where pests may be present.

Yes. Athena IPW can be used as part of a plant-management programme for powdery mildew. Its contact action helps tackle fungal spores while the foliar wash also cleans accumulated material from leaf surfaces.

Athena IPW works through contact with the target pest or pathogen rather than relying solely on systemic action. Its formulation helps disrupt the protective outer membranes of soft-bodied insects and acts against fungal spores, while washing dust and other residues from plant surfaces.

For preventative maintenance, Steel Roots recommends diluting Athena IPW at 60–90 ml per gallon of water and applying twice per week. Thoroughly cover the plant according to the product directions rather than only lightly misting the upper leaf surface.

For active or light pest pressure, Steel Roots recommends 90–120 ml per gallon, applied three times per week. For severe infestations, the listed rate is 120 ml per gallon with a more intensive application schedule. Always follow the latest product instructions for your specific situation.

Yes. Steel Roots lists a root-drench application rate of 4–12 ml per gallon of water, which can be used to target root-zone pests such as fungus gnat larvae. Always follow the product directions carefully and use the appropriate dilution for the intended application.
