How the XL Tray and Base Works

The XL Tray acts as the "reception area" for your nutrient solution.

1. Gravity Feed: Water travels from your reservoir through the 9mm pipework into the XL Base.

2. Valve Regulation: The AQUAvalve5 (sold separately) sits in the base and monitors the water level.

3. The Wet/Dry Cycle: The valve allows 20mm of nutrient solution into the tray and then shuts off completely. It will not reopen until the plant has consumed all the water in the tray, perfectly mimicking natural soil conditions and preventing root rot.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Ensure it's Level: For the gravity-fed system to work effectively, the XL Tray and Base must be placed on a completely flat, level surface. If the tray is tilted, the valve may not shut off properly, leading to flooding.

Keep it Clean: Between harvests, remove the pot and the valve. Wash the tray and base with warm soapy water or a mild hydrogen peroxide solution to remove any mineral salt buildup or debris.

Disc Placement: Always ensure your root control disc is placed at the bottom of the pot (gold/copper side up) before placing the pot into the XL Tray. This protects the valve from being "choked" by aggressive root growth.
